This garden is located in the backyard of a beautiful brownstone on the upper east side. The hardscape was existing but we were asked to redesign the plantings to provide year round interest and color. The plant pallet of this garden is mainly shade loving plants as most of the garden sits beneath the canopy of two mature trees: Tillia coradata, commonly called ‘little leaf linden.’ All of the shrubs are broadleaf evergreens including the hedge of Nandina domestica which features a beautiful tricolor display of green/red/maroon foliage
